Cookie policy

Which cookies and storage techniques Chalkaholics uses, what they are for and how to withdraw your consent at any time.

Last updated: 26 July 2026

This policy describes what Chalkaholics stores on your device. It supplements the privacy policy, which explains the remaining processing.

This is a translation of the German original. In case of doubt, the German version is the authoritative one.

In short

Unless you consent, this website stores a single entry on your device: your decision on the cookie notice. Only with your consent does audience measurement come on top. Without consent the analytics script is not even loaded.

What is a cookie — and what is localStorage?

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device and automatically sends back to the server on every further request.

localStorage is also a store in the browser, but it is not sent automatically. It stays on your device until it is specifically read or deleted.

Legally the two are treated the same: § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act applies to both, and both require consent unless they are strictly necessary for the service you requested.

Strictly necessary

This storage always takes place. It requires no consent, because without it your own decision could not be recorded.

| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | chalkaholics.consent | localStorage | Records whether you consented to audience measurement or declined it, and when | Until you change it or clear your browser storage |

The entry contains nothing but that decision, a timestamp and a version number. It never leaves your device.

Only with your consent

Google Analytics 4 sets these cookies as soon as — and only if — you have consented.

| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | _ga | Cookie | Distinguishes returning from new visitors | 2 years | | _ga_<identifier> | Cookie | Holds the state of the current session | 2 years |

The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Disclosure to Google LLC in the United States is possible. The details — in particular on transfer to a third country — are set out in the privacy policy.

The durations given correspond to the Google Analytics defaults. Google can change them; what your browser actually shows is decisive.

What we deliberately do not use

  • No advertising cookies. No advertising is shown on this website, and there is no tracking across other websites.
  • No Google reCAPTCHA. The spam protection on the forms manages without it and therefore transfers no data to third parties.
  • No fonts from external servers. The Archivo typeface is downloaded at build time and served from our own server. Loading the page creates no connection to Google Fonts.
  • No embedded videos or maps that would send data to third parties on load.

Changing your consent

Cookie settings at the very bottom of the footer opens the notice again. There you can change your decision at any time.

On withdrawal, the cookies set by Google Analytics are deleted and from the next page view the script is no longer loaded.

Deleting via the browser

Independently of that, you can remove stored data yourself at any time. In common browsers the settings for this are found under terms such as “clear browsing data”, “cookies and site data” or “site settings”.

If local storage is cleared in the process, your stored decision disappears. The notice then appears again on your next visit — that is not a fault, but the consequence of us knowing nothing about you.
